The Manufacturing NextMaterials (MNM) project, launched in 2024, is a European initiative that helps SMEs in materials technology scale up from prototype development to test production of smart and sustainable components.
Examples include lightweight car parts and battery materials.

Many SMEs face challenges in moving from prototype to production, as public support often stops after the prototype stage.
MNM bridges this gap by addressing production techniques, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance, enabling faster market entry for sustainable and smart materials that replace harmful substances such as PFAS.

The project runs for four years (16.11.2023 – 15.11.2027) under the lead of Oost NL, in cooperation with German and Dutch partners.

Target Group

  • Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the materials and manufacturing sectors

  • Companies working on sustainable, smart, or lightweight materials

  • Organisations seeking cross-border collaboration and support for scaling up production

Useful to Know

  • Project duration: 16.11.2023 – 15.11.2027

  • Approx. 120 SMEs will be supported

  • Focus areas: composite materials, 3D printing, and smart material production (e.g. batteries)

  • Includes technical and business support, as well as training and workshops for SMEs

  • SMEs can receive budget and guidance to set up and execute test productions with involvement from potential customers and investors
