Anaerobic wastewater treatment and the production of biogas

Anaerobic wastewater treatment and the associated production of biogas are the core of the project. The energetic potential of wastewater and residues from various industrial sectors are identified and the relevant companies are supported in evaluating and implementing an energetic use by means of anaerobic wastewater treatment. Anaerobic wastewater treatment reduces the costs for wastewater disposal and greenhouse gas emissions and replaces fossil natural gas with biogas. In addition, an innovative process is developed that combines electrolysis and anaerobic wastewater treatment. The process enables the decentralized conversion of electricity into biomethane via electrolysis and in-situ methanation.
