Welcome to Münster, Achterhoek!
On November 27–28, 2024, we had the honor of welcoming a delegation from the Achterhoek region to Münster. Mayors, aldermen, and city directors from the eight affiliated municipalities – Winterswijk, Aalten, Berkelland, Oost Gelre, Oude IJsselstreek, Bronckhorst, Montferland, and Doetinchem – spent two days intensifying cooperation between our regions.
Warm Welcomes and Historical Insights
The visit began with a reception hosted by Regierungspräsident Andreas Bothe, followed by a greeting from Mayor Angela Stähler and a tour of Münster's historic Town Hall.
Introduction TECH.LAND: A Vision for the Future
During the lunch session, Sebastian van Deel provided an engaging introduction to our TECH.LAND program. Focused on fostering innovation through cross-border collaboration, Tech.Land was a key topic of interest and discussion throughout the visit.
Exploring Cutting-Edge Battery Research
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the MEET Battery Research Center at the University of Münster, a TECH.LAND key-partner in the energy cluster. Attendees gained valuable insights into groundbreaking technologies and current research projects shaping the future of sustainable energy. Through guided tours of the facility and a thought-provoking lecture by Dr. Falko Schappacher, the role of research and development in our region became visible.
On November 28, the delegation visited the University Hospital Münster (UKM).
A Promising Start to Future Endeavors
The visit was marked by lively exchanges and concrete discussions about joint projects. It underscored the immense value of regular dialogue in our border region – be it in business, research, or administration. We thank the Achterhoek delegation for their visit and look forward to the next steps in this fruitful partnership!
