Symposium on Euregional Education 2025: connecting education, authorities and companies
Euregional Education 2025 took place on 2 April. On this day, teachers, education experts and representatives of governments and companies from Germany and the Netherlands came together with the aim of promoting cross-border education. The symposium thus marks an important milestone in the ever-closer cooperation in the Euregion and shows that much is already being done for a borderless education and labour market.
As more and more people see opportunities in cross-border cooperation, it is important to work together to best prepare pupils and students for a 360-degree labour market. For this, it is important to teach pupils and students international and Euroregional skills. The event was organised by the Interreg projects ´Euregional Knowledge Workshops´ (EWK) and ´Euregional Bildungskette´ (EDL) and was a useful event to share experiences, gain inspiration and find solutions together to the various challenges in the Euroregional educational landscape.
After the ceremonial opening by Mayor Angela Stähler of the city of Münster and Mayor Roelof Bleker of the municipality of Enschede, experts including Matthias Schmied (head of the school department, Münster district administration), Erwin Hoogland (member of parliament, province of Overijssel), Joris Bengevoord (president of EUREGIO) and Fridse Mobach (head of ROC van Twente) shared their views on German-Dutch cooperation in education. In his speech, education scientist Vincent Pijnenburg reiterated the relevance of euregional skills in the classroom and on the labour market.
During the day, several workshops and panel discussions took place in which participants gained insight into innovative teaching models, digital learning materials and cooperation between Dutch and German educational institutions. Project leader Barbarba Verbeek looks back on this symposium with satisfaction and concludes that the networks have been further strengthened and expanded and that Euroregional education is increasingly working towards a strong Euroregional labour market.
