FUSE Enschede 2026
Cross-Border Innovation in Motion: TECH.LAND at FUSE Enschede
What does cross-border collaboration actually look like in practice? For TECH.LAND, the answer was a full bus of 50 people, one shared destination, and a day of high-density insight into the state of innovation on both sides of the Dutch-German border. The TECH.LAND Express carried founders, investors, and decision-makers from Münster to Enschede for FUSE: a day built around startup pitches, expert talks, and structured matchmaking across the region's innovation ecosystem.
Three Takeaways of the day
1. Universities are innovation engines, not just talent pipelines. The sheer number of startups spinning directly out of university research at FUSE was a clear signal: with the right institutional backing, academic environments generate real entrepreneurial output.
2. MedTech is accelerating. Digitalization is reshaping the sector faster than many organizations are adapting to it. For decision-makers watching adjacent markets, this is a space to monitor closely — and potentially partner into, now rather than later.
3. Capital alone doesn't build companies. Across the pitches and conversations, one point was repeated by founders and investors alike: startups scale on expertise, sparring partners, and networks as much as on funding. This is precisely the value cross-border exchange delivers, access to a wider pool of both.
What Sets Ventures Apart
Beyond individual sector insights, a broader pattern emerged from the day's pitches and panels. The startups that stood out weren't necessarily the ones with the most polished idea. They were the ones that showed:
- Willingness to act despite uncertainty
- Speed in adapting after setbacks
- A clear vision paired with the team to execute it
- A perspective that extends beyond their own market or region

The Bigger Picture
The pitches and panels delivered valuable market intelligence. But the most telling moment of the day happened off-stage: a shared bus ride bringing TECH.LANDers from both sides of the border to the same room, at the same time, working toward the same goal.
That is what cross-border innovation infrastructure is meant to produce, not just funding decisions or panel discussions, but the everyday proximity that makes long-term collaboration possible.
