Foreign Trade Committee of the CCI North Westphalia visits Twente Board and Fraunhofer Innovation Platform in Enschede
The committee meeting in Enschede served to further consolidate economic relations between the Eastern Netherlands and the North-Westphalia region. “The aim is to increase the competitiveness of the border region by creating close business connections between the provinces of Overijssel and Gelderland as well as the Münsterland and the Emscher-Lippe region,” explained Sebastian van Deel, Head of Digitalization, Industry and International at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry North Westphalia.
The topics of the meeting were therefore strongly focused on cross-border cooperation between companies and other institutions. Visits to the “Fraunhofer Innovation Platform for Advanced Manufacturing at the University of Twente” and to the Dutch company DEMCON rounded off the meeting’s program.
The new TECH.LAND program is also intended to help strengthen competitiveness. It promotes cross-border cooperation between companies, universities, research institutes and public institutions. The focus is on energy (battery research & hydrogen), circular economy, advanced manufacturing & robotics as well as health & medtech. The program was presented to the IHK Foreign Trade Committee by Jan-Victor Leurs, Managing Director of the Twente Board. In addition, Hilde van der Pluym and Hans Brouwers provided information about current Interreg projects in the area of Industry 4.0.
