First Dutch German Science Days 2025: Stronger Together
In times of global uncertainty and multiple overlapping crises, international collaboration in science and innovation is more important than ever. This was the guiding idea behind the first edition of the Dutch-German Science Days (#DGSD2025), held under the overarching theme “Academia in times of crises”, initiated and organized by the Team Science and education at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Berlin.
The conference brought together representatives from universities, universities of applied sciences, research institutions and ministries from both countries. A key takeaway resonating throughout the event was clear: we are stronger together. Cross-border cooperation, especially between neighboring countries like Germany and the Netherlands, offers enormous potential for shared learning, innovation, and sustainable solutions.
One concept that was frequently emphasized during the discussions was the Triple Helix model, the close interaction between science and education, industry and economy, and government and politics. This approach reflects exactly what we believe in at TECH.LAND: meaningful innovation happens when these three spheres work together rather than in isolation.
Our community was represented at the conference by Prof. Dr. Jacco Pekelder and Dr. Mareike Blömker (both from University of Münster) and Dr. Wiebke Eberhardt (University of Twente) whose participation and engagement contributed valuable perspectives to the discussions and exchanges throughout the event. Thank you for your attendance!
The Dutch-German Science Days 2025 set a strong foundation for future dialogue and collaboration. We are already looking forward to the next edition, planned for spring 2027, and to continuing the conversation on how academia and innovation ecosystems can navigate crises together.
