A Strong Dutch-German Partnership for a Greener Future

On 30 January 2025, Evonik and VoltH2 signed a term sheet for the production of green hydrogen in Delfzijl. VoltH2 will build a 50 MW electrolyser near Evonik's hydrogen peroxide plant, which will cover a large part of Evonik's hydrogen requirements from the end of 2027.

Cross-border partnerships are the key to driving Europe’s energy transition!

The transition to a sustainable energy system requires innovative solutions and cross-border collaboration. The partnership between Evonik and the Dutch company VoltH2 marks an important step in the expansion of green hydrogen infrastructure in Northern Europe. This project showcases the potential of green energy in industrial applications and strengthens the foundation for a broader hydrogen network.

A milestone for the industry

Peter Metten, Managing Director of Evonik Peroxide Netherlands, points out: "Switching to green hydrogen is an important step towards sustainable production. We have found a strong partner in VoltH2". André Jurres, Managing Director of VoltH2, adds: "This collaboration shows how industrial companies can reduce CO2 emissions using renewable resources.” Christoph Batz-Sohn, Director of Sustainable Transformation at Evonik, highlights that this collaboration exemplifies how partnerships are essential for driving a sustainable transformation.

Forward-looking cooperation

This collaboration is a prime example of how Dutch and German companies are working together to accelerate the hydrogen economy. With a shared vision for sustainable transformation, Evonik and VoltH2 are setting a precedent for industrial decarbonization—demonstrating that partnerships and technology-driven solutions are key to a cleaner, greener future.
